Fisher Vendor Licence

This licence is required for commercial fishers who sell their catch:

  • to the public (for their own consumption), directly from the harvest vessel, or
  • to restaurants or retail stores that are regulated under the Food Premises Regulation

Fisher Vendors have to meet the following requirements:

Fisher Vendors are subject to inspection to ensure compliance with the Act and regulations.

How to apply

1. In Person – at our Ministry of Agriculture office (2500 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay)

  • Require applicant to present completed and signed application + supporting paperwork
  • Require a signed + dated cheque or money order made out to Minister of Finance.

*Note: we do NOT have a point of sale machine in our office to process debit/credit payments. However, debit/credit card payments are accepted at the Service BC desk out front.

3. Via telephone – through FrontCounter BC (locations found here: https://portal.nrs.gov.bc.ca/web/client/locations)

  • Require applicant to send in completed and signed application + supporting paperwork.   
  • Fees payable by telephone, following receipt of application paperwork, via: credit card

*Note: Recommend client contact their local FrontCounter BC, to determine how best to submit their application paperwork, and to make payment.

2. In person – at a Service BC or FrontCounter BC location 

  • Require applicant to present completed and signed application + supporting paperwork
  • Fees payable in person via: cheque or money order (made out to Minister of Finance),  cash, debit or credit

*Note: Recommend client phone their local office prior to visiting, to ensure the service they require is available.

    4. Via mail – to our Ministry of Agriculture Office (2500 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay BC V9N 5M6)

    Require applicant to send in completed and signed application + supporting paperwork

    • Require a signed + dated cheque or money order made out to Minister of Finance.
